About Golden Triangle Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh's Golden Triangle is a one-of-a-kind area because of the geography of the state itself. The Golden Triangle is located right where the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River come together to form the Ohio River, and the land is thus hemmed in by the two rivers. This has created a compact downtown district with bridges spanning off of it to connect it with the other parts of the city. There is much within the Golden Triangle despite its small size, with lots of shops and attractions for the visitor to choose from.

The Golden Triangle has a rich industrial history, as men such as Andrew Carnegie did much of their business out of there in that past age. Now, along with business and industry, the downtown district holds many parks and recreational areas that make it look much better than if it were covered in warehouses. The Point State Park is one of the best, as it is at the tip of the Triangle and so affords the visitor a view of all three rivers at one time, an uncommon occurrence to be sure. Other attractions include the Allegheny Riverfront Park and the US Steel Tower.

There are many hotels and places to stay, including the Hilton Garden Inn, the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center, the Westin Convention Center Hotel, and the Hampton Inn and Suites. There is a lot of shopping, including a Burlington Coat Factory and Saks Fifth Avenue.
